Baseball Part 1

Random picture of Jace playing catcher at one of his games.  I wasn't convinced the team we were playing was 2nd graders.  They were big.  But we beat them.  :)

Kyler playing ball....didn't get to see her much because Jace and her played on the same nights.  And Colton too.  Usually in 3 different towns...

And then there are these two that get drug to all the ball games...Connor is in it for the popcorn and posicles.  Cassidy...um...

Hay Time!

Trying to get this guy to stand "nicely" for a picture is starting to be a challenge.

I've started threatening.  The situation is slightly improved...

Connor got her turn to ride in the skidloader...Jace has been doing a lot of tractor and truck riding, but he is just a little too big to ride in the skidloader now...

While Connor was riding, Jace did his part to water the beans.

And later Jace rode in the tractor, so Connor and I took some selfies!

Meanwhile, a little "underwear" golf took place at our house...

Snagged this at a garage sale...I'd say she likes it!

We attended the rodeo in Troy...always a fun time!

And, third time is a charm!  This is the third year we have registered Jace for the mutton busting, and the first year he really did it!  It was a super short ride...but he DID IT!

And we got to spend some time with the Luedkes at our house...

Two sets of kinda-twins...I would say they both have a love-hate relationship!

MUD RUN!!!

When we took Jace's field trip to the Discovery Center in Topeka, we saw a flyer for a kids mud run...so of course we signed up for it, with some of our friends!

They ended up in a couple different heats...Jace and Kyler were in the same heat.

After climbing a rock wall at the start and running on a trail through the woods, they had to crawl through a mud pit...

After that they had to throw a mud pie in their face (or on the ground...), slide down a muddy tube, then carry a bowl of water to a pool, jump in the pool, and cross the finish line!

Some of us had more fun than others... 

Austin and Gracie Grable ran too, in an older group.  Jace had a chance to run with them, so he did!

 

Like I said, some of us got a little more into it than others...by this time the Kostmans and Luedkes were cleaned up ready to go home!

Jace had so much fun! And lucky for me he didn't need any parent help ha ha!

Lemonade Stand

But first, a picnic.  After Jace got out of VBS one day we had a picnic at the park in Highland, and then the plan was to play.  HOWEVER...metal playground equipment, not so fun on a hot sunny day!

I did a garage sale in St. Joe with Jaime, and on the second day the boys, Jace and Cooper did a lemonade stand.  Jace was all about this...especially once the money started rolling in.  There is a big difference between the attention span of a 5 and 6 year old! Cooper was done in a matter of minutes, whereas once Jace got going he was approaching people on the sidewalk to buy some lemonade!

The lady on the left was their first customer.  She was paying for some things and I offered to give her a dollar to go buy a cup of lemonade-because they had been selling for awhile with no business, so I was afraid they would give up.  But once they got started, they sold out quickly!  And spent quickly too...they went and bought hot dogs from a house down the street, and later some slushies across the street.  It was fun, and they each made $26!!  EXACTLY enough for Jace to buy a sprayer he had been eyeing!  Hard work pays off!

 I got one picture of us working on my Mother's Day gift...I wanted to do stones of the kids' hand and foot prints.  Turned out great!

Jed was so proud of Jace...they took off up to Brown County lake one afternoon just to see what it was like and fish off the bank.  Jace baited his own hook, cast his own line, and caught this fish all by himself!!!

And we did the Wathena 5K...on the river road, so it is FLAT.  Jace was right at the starting line, and sprinted out.  He did great.  Of course he got tired, so I stayed back and walked/jogged with him, pushing Connor in the stroller the whole time.  He ended up with first in his age group, as did Jed, and Jena too, and Jena won first in women's overall!
