September....

The end of summer....

Jed and I took these goofballs camping/fishing Labor Day weekend.  They had fun...and they caught a fish!  Personally, I'm not a big fan of camping, but these guys loved it.  Roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and Jed cooked eggs for breakfast.  Aside from the all night rave going on at a campsite close to us, they had a great time!

Our first pumpkin harvest!  I accidentally got the wrong kind of pumpkins to plant, so we only have these "bumpy" pumpkins this year....

This guy...the beginning days of school really wear him down...

We were able to spend a little more time at the Grable pool over the Labor Day weekend....

And......Daisy got a new home.  She was getting pretty big at our house so it was time to put her to pasture with the rest of the calves.  And this is how you haul a cow that you've been raising in your backyard all summer....lucky for us it was flea market weekend so we blended right in with the rest of the flea traffic...

And there were some tears shed when we left her.  I knew the kids would be a little sad, but I didn't know they would be that sad.  For the next couple days they kept asking when she would be coming back, and wanted to drive by and see her.  Maybe we will have a new "Daisy" next year.....

Back 2 School...

Put him to bed as a Kindergartener....woke up as a First grader.

And an after-the-first-day-of-school picture...this year Jace, along with Colton and Kyler, are riding the bus to my room after school.  Jennifer provides the snacks, and I try to keep them from eating all the snacks we have in one day!

Ms. Jenkins again! She moved up to first grade and we are so lucky to have her again!

New Wheels...

We attempted to take the kids to the air-show, and by that I mean we went to a pasture outside of Wathena....it started raining....so we left.  It was still a fun pasture picnic/ride!

 

We have some extra help this year during harvest...is excited the right word when you are buying a combine?  Not sure...but Jace and Jed are excited to put it to work!

More August Happenings...

Annual seed/chemical customer appreciation meeting....joined by the Albers' kids, Cooper and Claire!

Put the kids to work one day...Colton, Kyler, and Jace got their first taste of throwing hay, on a hot, hot day!

The alfalfa got mowed, which uncovered all the rocks underneath...we "employed" the help of Jace, Connor and their "equipment" to get them picked up before a storm rolled in!

Went fishing one night and we actually caught one!  Ok, when I say "we" I mean Jed caught it and that was as close as Connor would get...
