Camping 2017

We made it to Brown County Lake to camp with the kids this year!

The plan was for Derek and Cassidy to come out and eat supper with us, then Derek was going to take Connor and Cassidy back to their house for the night.  Welll......while we were eating supper Cassidy got ahold of a fishing pole and hooked her eyelid.  I held her arms while Derek and Jed cut the line.  Then it was a mad dash to Saint Joe.  I drove Derek's truck while he held her and she stayed surprisingly calm...

I think I was born to be a race car driver.  

I called Jennifer when we left and just told her she needed to meet us at the ER and not to worry....lying through my teeth that I was scared to death.  

I dropped Derek and Cassidy and went to walmart to get Cassidy some clean clothes because I was sure they were going to head to Children's mercy.

HOWEVER....Cassidy and her luck...when they were looking at it, the hook FELL OUT OF HER EYELID.  I couldn't believe it.

So, we ended up camping, and Connor got to stay with us.

We loaded up the boat for the river!

Even got Grandma and Grandpa B to go with us!

And.....the boat broke down and we spent a lot more time out there than we planned and we almost didn't make it back, but we did!  Not sure if they will ever go with us again....

And we had a park/picnic playdate with Jena and Brook!  We FINALLY got to try out the playground at the North Shoppes, which was amazing.  Then, we planned to go to the castle playground at Krug Park.  Well, neither of us realized that they had taken that out...so we fed the fish and picnicked instead!

Parade crew!  Austin, Gracie, and Ella; Cayley and Alyson; Cooper and a not-happy Claire, Colton, Kyler and Cassidy; and Jace and Connor.

Mean mom alert!  I didn't want Connor riding on the float...just didn't trust the 3 year old!  So, only way she could go was to be sandwiched between the "responsible" big kids!  Which made Connor so very happy because Cayley and Austin are some of her favorites!

And wouldn't you know...they ended up with "Best Decorated Float!"

This family had some SUPER exciting news at Brook's birthday party over the weekend...

Brook is going to be a big sister in January!

Meanwhile, the boys took a year off from cooking at the fair grounds with the fire department.  Jed didn't want to get guilted into going over there, so he stayed back at the Grable's house and started working on wings for supper!

And after a long weekend of baseball tournament, Brook's birthday party, and 4th of July....you get this!  I woke Jace up at 11 a.m. the day after the 4th!

3rd Place!!

Our baseball season ended with a tournament in Highland.  We played a game Friday night that we won, and then we play THREE games, almost back to back on Saturday morning.

In the end, we had played three games, and came up against the DWest team that would get 2nd.  They hadn't played as many games, and were a good team.  And they also have several players that play travel K-Ball........but our team played them really hard!  It was exciting.  Jace had an amazing catch, and some good hits too!

Grandma and Grandpa braved the heat and were there for his games.

LOVE watching Jace play sports.  And Connor, bless her heart, she was tired of baseball.  Luckily she made friends with Karlie, Riley's older sister, and got to go to the playground with her.  When she wasn't at the playground, she sat in the shade with Grandma and Grandpa J.  She was a trooper!

All the players got a coupon for a free ice cream...which meant everyone needed ice cream.  And Connor fell asleep before she got to enjoy it!

After the tournament we rushed home to change clothes and head to Brook's 2nd birthday party that night!  As usual...calves had to be fed first!  

We took a long drive so the kids could sleep, which involved Jed hanging some beetle traps.
