Memorial Weekend Fun

This weekend was a blurrrrrrrrr.  We started off on Friday evening hosting a get-together for the wedding party and families of Jay and Morgan, who are getting married in 4 DAYS!!  On Saturday I attended a bridal luncheon for Morgan, hosted by her Grandma Vickie, Jed and I both played in a golf tournament, and Jed hosted Jay's bachelor party.

A weekend is not complete though if we do not get to see "ColtandKy!"  (who is steadily becoming more "Colt-en")

We shared ice cream cones....

And covered our ears because it was so "NOIS-Y!" when everyone was shooting clays.

Colton got a lesson...

Not sure who was more excited about this, Jed or Colton.

On Monday, Jay took us for a boat ride.  Or as Jace kept saying, "Ride, Jay's, Fish-ing boat."  Too bad we didn't catch a darn fish.  (Or even cast a line!)  I was pretty nervous about how he would do, but he really did great.  He didn't fuss about the life jacket at all, and when I got in the water, he even let Jena hold him in the water so he could kick his feet!  It took Jace quite a while to warm up to the boat, and therefore I held him for probably the first half of the day.  Once he warmed up though, he really liked it!

Hanging out with Grandpa Jerry!  (Jace even pointed out Papa's grain bins from the river!)

Drank some bright red gatorade.

Had to sit with Grandpa to get a better view of the big backhoe we saw on a barge that is working along the river.

Got a driving lesson from Uncle Jay...

And a shooting lesson...

And finally crashed.  Speaking of, it's 9 a.m., and he is still in bed.  I'd say he is still recovering from the weekend, and he better rest up so he is ready to go for Uncle Jay and Morgan's wedding this weekend!

Water, water, everywhere!

and corn that is trying so hard to grow.  (We NEED rain!)

And mud.  Wait, where did the mud come from?  Well, while Jed and I were working hard to set a flagpole, Jace kept himself busy playing in the water hose and therefore, the mud.  Had the time of his life.

So the next obvious step would be to wash off.  And boy, was that fun.

Jace thought we needed to water the wildcat, of course!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

Jena, the Teacher.

A few weekends ago we went to Manhattan to see Jena graduate from K-State!  She is going to be a teacher (a STELLAR one), and will be teaching Kindergarten.  Those are going to be some lucky kiddos!  Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures.  Here are the ones I did get, and hopefully I'll update this post later with more pictures from Jena!

Jace didn't really enjoy the graduation...

There's Jena!  Right in the middle.  Terrible picture.

What a great family photo! Jace has grown a little since last year!

Great picture.  Terrible story.  Not soon after this picture was taken, we wanted one of Jace by himself with the wildcat.  So, mommy and daddy stepped away from Jace, and as soon as he realized it, he lunged for Daddy, and took a nose dive onto the concrete.  He got a scratch on his back, and a cut on his head, but thankfully was okay.  When he calmed down he just kept saying, "Wildcat, get me."  That darn wildcat.

a little DIRT never hurt.

This week we spent some time outside at the Luedke's house...and even walked across to the driving range to practice golf!

Kyler prefers to drink straight from the bottle.  No sippy cup for her!

Jace got to go for a ride in ColtandKy's new toy!  This was a garage sale STEAL!

And then last night, ColtandKy came to our house for awhile.  The social bug (Kyler) was busy texting, while Colton was taking the trike for a spin on the deck.

Oh yes, and Jace's job was Gatekeeper.  He is very good about putting Angus on the deck when he wants to play in the yard, or making Angus get off the deck when he wants up there.  Kyler is not particularly fond of Angus, so when we got home, I asked Jace to put Angus up on the deck and he did it right away!
Now this video is of something I didn't know Jace could do.  I have been helping him to practice climbing up on this thing by himself, and what do you know, I look out the window last night and him and Kyler are both standing at the top of this!

And the dirt?  Well, they were great helpers when I planted tomato plants last night.  They just couldn't understand that with the wind blowing, you shouldn't throw dirt in the air...or at least shouldn't be downwind of the person throwing the dirt.

Picture time!

Oh yes, Colton wanted his own picture.  I love these kiddos!

Nothing exciting....

has been going on. Well, that's not entirely true. We have been BUSY. Busy on the weekends, busy during the week, just busy. And the camera hasn't been very busy.  I did find some pictures on my phone though!

We stop by Jed's office almost every day after school....this is how we contain Jace in the warehouse!

I think this Jace helping me make his birthday cake....

And this was him taste-testing the frosting...

And this was the final product.

The first 3 mushrooms we found at our house...

Helping me grocery shop..

This is almost a sad picture for me.  I was trying to get a picture of Kyler sleeping on the mattress, and Jace in the crib, from when we were afraid Jace would climb out of his crib.  The day this happened was close to the last time Jace slept in his crib.

Posing with the new semi, with Uncle Jay and Great-Grandpa George Johnson.

And, the air show.  The air show that we went and watched, and it was kind of neat.  Jace liked the planes, but he liked playing in Aunt Jennifer's car more.  He got really excited to see the stealth bomber...until it got close enough and was SO noisy.  And it went over us several times...so he spent a lot of time with his ears covered and with either me or Jed holding him.  He got really good at plugging his ears, and I think he liked it!

Summertime Preview

Jace was sick last week, and wasn't eating much, so one morning I said we could eat pancakes outside for breakfast, and he actually ate!  Of course, we had to keep an eye on the cows while we were out there.  Can you see them?  And of course Angus kept an eye on Jace.

It was warm enough last week to make a test run of one of my "pins" off of Pinterest.  Toys frozen in water on a 90 degree day?  I think so.

On Pinterst it said it would "keep them entertained for 2-3 hours!"  Well, we made it 10 minutes.

Angus sure enjoyed it though.

Oh, I love you Angi!

We will definately be doing more of this in the summer!
